Building Permit Forms

Why do I need a Building Permit?
This is a commonly asked question. The fundamental purpose for building permit issuance is to maintain that all structures and other developments comply with all ordinances of the city and all laws and administrative rules of the state.

It is the building inspector's responsibility to officially approve the plans and issue the building permit. A copy of the permit shall then be kept at the site of the proposed building. After being approved, the plans and specifications are not to be altered in any respect that involves any of the above-mentioned ordinances, laws or rules or that involves the safety of the building, except with the written consent of the building inspector.

Simply put, it's to ensure that all ordinances, both state and local, and safety requirements are followed.
